In 2004 stephenson STUDIO were part of the successful OPUS bid team to develop five sites as part of the Charlestown and Lower Kersal New Deal for communities in Salford. The aspiration is to regenerate the sites to provide 2000 new homes as part of the HMR pathfinder.
The Charlestown Riverside master plan comprises 680 homes, a sports gym, community facilities, elderly provision, a park with play areas and a sports pitch. The emphasis is on family sized accommodation with a mix of apartments and 2, 3 and 4 bed houses. Lifetime Homes standards are applied across the site with 30% of the properties being Affordable.
