house 1364

Located in a leafy suburb of Manchester, the plot is on a gently sloping site with views south over the River Bollin valley.

The design comprises two formal elements; a ground floor loadbearing masonry base made from hand-made long format bricks and a first floor cuboid clad in huge format tiles. The ground floor responds to the geometry of the site and provides a weighty and robust base for the projecting form of the lightweight first floor. The ground floor living spaces are single aspect to the south facing rear and the first floor are dual aspect.
